Becky Mackenzie is a ceramic designer and maker specialising in elegant and minimal pieces in very fine porcelain, bone china and earthenware.

A graduate of Central St Martins, Becky designs and produces contemporary pieces of ceramic that show their sophistication through their simplicity, focusing on the key elements in each piece and the simple idea of ‘knowing when to stop’. In her decorative work she uses her own illustrations to bring to life scenes of wild swimming and stylised botanical drawings to enhance small bowls and dishes.

Becky’s work encapsulates the joint concepts of fragility and strength and inextricably fuses the two. Her process pushes the ceramic materials up to and often beyond their limits, many pieces don’t survive, but those that do have a natural freeness of form that ebbs and flows echoing the natural contours of the surrounding landscape, be it the rugged hills that surround her studio, or the gentle ripples on a tarn.

Her work has been featured in Country Life, Elle Decoration, Living Etc, Eve and Living North and has been sold by The Conran Shop, Mint, Thrown Contemporary and Designers Guild amongst others.

At present she is showing her work with Woburn Mosaic ,  Thrown Contemporary  , The Biscuit Factory , Gallery 57 and Frivoli

An avid trail runner and wild swimmer she lives in the beautiful wilds of Northumberland with her husband and three children and will shortly be launching a new studio space in which to create and show her work.
